A survey is composed of various question types you can easily implement. You should base your survey's question types on the data you would like to collect from your customers. In this article, we will go over each question type and when to use it.


All question types can be personalized to fit your needs by hovering over the question title and click the Gear Icon to add custom functionality. In the same panel, you can also copy or delete a question.

Media

As its name suggests, this survey component adds a type of media to your survey and it is not supposed to collect responses from the participants. You can add the question's title (the index of your question, it is not shown to the public) and the text you want to display. Clicking on the Gear Symbol, you will have the option to upload a picture and add a description for your question.

Welcome Screen


This question type is used to welcome the participants as they start the survey. The Welcome Screen is a survey component that is informative and not designed to gather answers from the participants. You can add the title (the index of your question, it is not shown to the public) and the text you would like to welcome your participants with. Clicking on the Gear Symbol, you will have the option to

  • upload a picture,

  • add a description for the question, or

  • require the customer to accept a checkbox. This will force the participant to accept an agreement before starting the survey.

 

End Screen


This question type is used to thank the participants as they end the survey. It is a survey component that is informative and it is not designed to collect responses by the participants. You can add the title (the index of your question, it is not showed to the public) and the text you would like to thank your participants with.Clicking on the Gear Symbol, you will have the option to

  • upload a picture,

  • add a description for the question, or

  • put a redirect URL in order to redirect a user to an other website or survey and choose the number of seconds before the redirection happens.

 

Single Choice Question


This question type allows your participants to only select one of the presented alternative answers. You can add the title (the index of your question, it is not showed to the public), the question you would like to ask your customers and the options the participants can choose. Clicking on the Gear Symbol, you will have the option to

  • upload a picture,

  • add a description for the question,

  • make the question required,

  • transform the question alternatives in drop down mode,

  • randomize the order of the options,

  • add "Other" option and add a

  • text box for other input, or

  • add a picture for every alternative.

 

Multiple Choice Question


This question type allows your participants to select multiple of the presented alternative answers. You can add the title (the index of your question, it is not showed to the public), the question you would like to ask your customers and the options the participants can choose. Clicking on the Gear Symbol, you will have the option to

  • upload a picture,

  • add a description for the question,

  • make the question required,

  • transform the question alternatives in drop down mode,

  • randomize the order of the options,

  • add "Other" option and add a text box for other input,

  • add a picture for every alternative,

  • define the minimum and maximum amount of options the participant can select.

 

Open Text Question


This question type offers the possibility to respond to a question with a text. You can add the title (the index of your question, it is not showed to the public) and the question you would like to ask your customers. Clicking on the Gear Symbol, you will have the option to

  • upload a picture,

  • add a description for the question,

  • make the question required,

  • define the number of text boxes for the user to answer, or

  • define the maximum length in characters accepted for each text box.

 

Contact Question


This question type allows your participants to input their contact information with open texts. You can add the title (the index of your question, it is not showed to the public) and the question you would like to ask your customers. Clicking on the Gear Symbol, you will have the option to

  • upload a picture,

  • make the question required,

  • add a description for the question,

  • add a first name text box,

  • add a last name text box,

  • add an address text box,

  • add a phone number text box, or

  • add an email text box.

 

Open Number Question


This question type allows your participants to answer your question with an open number. For example, you might ask them about their age or about how often they visit the gym in a normal week. You can add the title (the index of your question, it is not showed to the public) and the question you would like to ask your customers. Clicking on the Gear symbol, you will have the option to

  • upload a picture,

  • make the question required,

  • add a description for the question,

  • define if the user should only answer with whole numbers,

  • define a prefix or suffix for the answer, or

  • define a minimum or maximum number value.

 

NPS Question


A NPS (net promotor score) measures how likely your customers are to recommend your product or company to a friend or colleague. This type of question is supposed to be answered on a 0-10 scale. They are typically structured as follows: "On a scale of zero to ten, how likely are you to recommend our product/business to a friend or colleague?" You can add the title (the index of your question, it is not showed to the public) and the NPS question you would like to ask your customers. Clicking on the Gear Symbol, you will have the option to

  • upload a picture,

  • make the question required, or

  • add a description for the question.

 

Scale Question


This question type allows your participants to answer your question by selecting a number on a scale. You can add the title (the index of your question, it is not showed to the public), the question you would like to ask your customers, and a left, middle and right label to represent the minimum, middle and maximum value. Clicking on the Gear Symbol, you will have the option to

  • upload a picture,

  • make the question required,

  • add a description for the question,

  • show a radio box instead of a line, or

  • define the start and end value as well as the scale segmentation.

 

Scale Matrix


This question type is like the Scale type, but here you can chose multiple scales for many sub questions of the main question. You can add the title (the index of your question, it is not showed to the public), the question you would like to ask your customers, a left, middle and right label to represent the minimum, middle and maximum value, and sub questions. Clicking on the Gear Symbol, you will have the option to

  • upload a picture,

  • make the question required, or

  • add a description for the question.

 

Date Question


This question type allows your participants to answer your question by selecting a date. You can add the title (the index of your question, it is not showed to the public) and the question you would like to ask your customers. Clicking on the Gear Symbol, you will have the option to

  • upload a picture,

  • make the question required,

  • add a description for the question, or

  • define a minimum and maximum date the participant can choose.

 

Date & Time Question


This question type is similar to the date question, however allows your participants to additionally enter a time. You can add the title (the index of your question, it is not showed to the public) and the question you would like to ask your customers. Clicking on the Gear Symbol, you will have the option to

  • upload a picture,

  • make the question required,

  • add a description for the question, or

  • define a minimum and maximum date the participant can choose.
